Mixing Colours

Primary and Secondary colours are rarely used straight from the paint tube.

Throughout your painting you will find you are constantly modifying your colours, greying their intensity to create paintings that are harmonies.

Primary Colours

All colours are made from the primary colours.

Red – Yellow – Blue

Secondary Colours

These are mixed from primary colours.

Orange – Green – Purple

Tertiary Colours

These colours are the steps between Primary and Secondary colours.

Red (Primary) Red Orange  – Orange (Secondary) Yellow Orange – Yellow (Primary)
